Sound
And so it was that the sound was given life. The sound was void; it was without shape or form. It was without meaning, and, at the same time, encompassing all meanings. It could not be defined, for it defied definition. The Tao spoke the sound, but he did not; for how could he speak that what could not be spoken? But he gave it life, for it was waiting to be born.
“What did you say, O Tao?” asked the new student, “I could not hear a thing.”
With that, the sound died. Silently. You could not hear it any more even if you tried.
“Open your ears,” said the Tao, “Listen to the sounds of silence.”
